Meet and Make! What Does it Mean?

Meet and Make on the Colonial Stage, Cultivate 2012.

Meet and Make is a unique Cultivate event that gives audiences a close-up view into the creative process of dance-making.  In this improvised performance, the artists, many of whom will have met only a few hours before the show, collaborate to create spontaneous works right in front of the audience. Audience members get to pick names and numbers from a hat and determine which performers will create and perform a dance, right on the spot.

“Meet and Make has been a popular part of the festival the last few years” says Cultivate Director, Katherine Ferrier. “People say it’s given them an inside view into dance making that they’ve never had before. I love how this performance exposes so much of the process and brings people right into the moment, together with the performers. My hope is that community members will be inspired by what they see and come back on Friday and Saturday to see more!”
